"There are two ways to live your life. One is to surrender to the flow of life. The other is to listen to your inner voice, whispering gently, and follow it. We listened to the latter, heard it and followed it."
They quit their jobs and did their first training on herbs, while planting a herb garden and already designing their products. It is already an interesting place to be, because they draw everything from nature and cultural heritage. The cups are made of clay from a nearby stream. The tables and cupboards are made from oak trees that were blown down in a storm. As felting is a local tradition in these parts, they made the lanterns in this style. They also picked up some wood, stones... They add a special touch to make it modern and appealing.
They started with guided tours of the herb garden, education on the healing effects of herbs and gatherings over homemade teas. They added local stories and history and combined it all into enjoyable events that became more and more recognisable. The word reached the Slovenian Tourist Board, which recognised their events as one of only a few specially selected authentic and special Slovenian experiences (Slovenien unique experience). "5 senses, 2 babas and 1 herb garden," say Amanda and Maja. "5 senses, 2 babas and 1 herb garden," say Amanda and Maja.
Why such commitment to the story? "There are a lot of interesting products available in Slovenia, but when you do more research, you find that almost all the raw materials are bought abroad. This shocked us. Why, when we have it all at home? We value the local, the local. From seed to finished product. We are not only helping someone else, we are helping ourselves, the environment, the planet, nature... we are all better off. We want people's first choice to always be home-grown, local."
They were also invited to Transcent 22 - World Association of Travel Agents and Tourism Workersto help run the programmes with their incense. They wrote a booklet on herbs for corporate gifts for Sanolabor. They have barely made a good start in business and already so many successes - it will be a pleasure to follow their further journey.
But how do they find themselves as entrepreneurs? "Being an entrepreneur is challenging. You're in it 24 hours a day. If you didn't really love it, you would have given up a long time ago. That's why it's an extremely important reflection for everyone - do you really want to do this for the rest of your life. If the answer is without a doubt "yes", then go for it. In that case, you won't give up on the hard days. You know it will work. You know because you do it with your heart."
Today, in addition to the unique experience of tea parties and learning about local herbs, they are expanding their product range: herbal teas, herbal incense, spruce ointments, soaps, herbal potions... Traditional recipes and local ingredients are at the heart of all their products. Wonderful gifts for all those who appreciate local and natural.
