A funny question at first sight, but in fact a very sensible one... People are becoming more and more aware of the impact that exercise and diet have on our health. This is no different for our pets. The days of \"the dog is for outside on the kettle to bark\" are over. The West increasingly sees the dog as a member of the family, and we are giving them more attention, more comfort and, of course, more health. A huge problem with dogs nowadays is that more than 80 % are overweight, leading to illness and injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u017diga \u017divoder and Vasja Lebar<\/strong> - long-time friends, both dog owners and dog lovers, have found a solution to this problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u017diga had the idea, Vasja had the knowledge. In collaboration with an animal nutritionist, they developed the PAWSM app and its associated container over three years, which determines the optimal meal weight according to the dog's breed, age and activity level. It is easy to use, clear and automated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why are they working as part of Catapult? \"Because in this complex you can meet like-minded people, people who have walked similar paths. Everyone can help you along the way. Zoyo helped us with advice on materials and components, Chipolo with hardware development, Dewesoft with sourcing components for the prototype... It's actually hard to get all the components you need because as a small startup you're the last in line. But with the help of Dewesoft's strong network, we were able to get the components we needed very quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in addition to mentoring, training and assistance with calls for proposals, Catapult is the link between all of this. When things get complicated, I ask Ur\u0161a - hey, do you have anyone I could ask this of ... There is always a connection and a good contact. This connection with each other is extremely important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In these three years of development, I have realised that you can have everything you need next door. You don't need to ask the Chinese.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After three years, what advice can you give to those who are still at the very beginning? \"Show what you've got as soon as possible. That way you'll get the most information from the market right away, what customers really want... Thinking 'I have an idea, but I can't say it so someone doesn't steal it' is pointless. An idea is only worth maybe 1 % of the whole, but not even that much. To get from that first idea to an actual sale is ... ah ... three years and we're nowhere.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u017diga: \"It is also important to me that we are not emotionally involved in the decision of when to say now is enough. There is nothing wrong with giving up at some point. You've wasted some time and money, but you've gained a lot in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whatever the final outcome, you learn a lot along the way, you make contacts, you gain experience... All of which might come in handy for another idea. Or a third. Or a tenth. They say that one idea out of a hundred succeeds. I find it hard to believe that for most, it will be the first. But that one, when it comes, will make up for all the effort, investment and time of the 99 that didn't make it.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
