Who is Marjan Batagelj?
In 1989, he and his wife founded Batagel & Co., Ltd., a company specialising in the sale of household vacuum cleaners, ironing and steam cleaners and organisational engineering. Later, the company also focused on real estate investments. In 2010, it became a 74.9% owner of Turizem Kras, a company that manages the Postojna Cave and organises visits to the Karst attraction, renamed to Postojna Cave, d. d.
Batagel & Co. is one of the first limited liability companies in Slovenia. Batagel's business policy is based on a conservative approach and the imperative of organic growth. He ran Batagel & Co. without debt, reinvesting profits in the development of the company.
He is one of Slovenia's most respected entrepreneurs in the SME sector.
2014, he took over the management of the Club of Slovenian Entrepreneurs, an economic interest group.
For his work, he received the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award for 2000 and 2015, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia awarded him the Entrepreneurial Role Model 2011.
