The part of the site where the City of Acrobats will be built is a growing area protected orchid species Red-ringed Cuckoo(Dactylorhiza incarnata).
We have already taken action to preserve it. The meadow where the orchid grows has been fenced and marked - so human movement and the keeping of domestic animals are not allowed in the area.
In cooperation with the Slovenian Nature Conservation Institute, OE Celje, we have drawn up a plan to set up replacement habitat - wet grassland, which will be created in the immediate vicinity of the construction site.
Thank you for respecting nature with us. The City of Acrobats will grow in harmony with it.
Questions and answers
How and by whom was the plant discovered? According to the Slovenian Nature Conservation Institute, OE Celje, the plant was discovered in 2017 by random walkers in the area and then reported to the Institute.
How big is the site? In last year's count, we detected 38 plants, and the area we have secured is even wider.
Is this the only site or has another one been discovered in Laconca? Only in the City of Acrobats area, the others are unknown to us.
Is it perhaps surprising that it grows in Laconia or in Zasavje, given the characteristics of the landscape, climate and pollution? No, according to the representative of the Slovenian Nature Conservation Institute, OE Celje, it is a case that the material used to fill the area was transferred from another location where the plant is already growing.
Are there any plans to move the site to another location in Laconca or in the City of Acrobats? Or will it stay where it is? Yes, the relocation is planned to the northern part of the City of Acrobats, where there is a very similar habitat and which, according to the representative of the Slovenian Nature Conservancy, OE Celje, is suitable.
Will the site be included in the City of Acrobats? Yes, as part of our care for endangered plant species.
Is any additional, special care already being taken for the plants in the Laconca? Yes, the orchid site has been fenced off with a special wooden fence and a sign in front of it with information about the orchid and the restricted area.
